After my last post this is really funny, I was online checking my old school email and what do my eyes behold?? this:
The Details:
The campaign has been organized to educate the public on pedestrian, bicycle and motor vehicle safety. “While the city is doing everything it can to improve safety, education is a major component to the program,” said Shawn Larsen, mayor of Rexburg. “This safety campaign requires participation from all parties—pedestrians and drivers.”
As part of the campaign, the City of Rexburg has developed a 10-point safety plan, which was initiated after the death of a second pedestrian at the crosswalk at Third South and Second West in Rexburg. The plan includes community education, improving walking routes to and around schools, increasing enforcement of pedestrian and bicycle safety laws, and inspecting and evaluating city crosswalks.
BYU–Idaho, along with the City of Rexburg, encourage the campus community to Share the Road.
What is the 10 point plan you ask?
here it is...
1.Community education using PSA's, website, billboards and other media forms.
2. Installing new pedestrian safety signs.
3. Improving walking routes to and around schools.
4. Increasing education efforts at schools.
5.Increasing enforcement of pedestrian and bicycle safety laws.
6. Inspection and evaluation of all crosswalks withing the city by independent source; with particular emphasis on arterial routes.
7. Rotating speed limit trailers that tell drivers their speed to get motorists to slow down.
8. Long-term infrastructure improvements through the city.
9. Increasing availability of safety classes to resolve pedestrian, bicycle and associated citations.
10. Increasing bike lanes throughout the city.
FINALLY!!!
